Trends Research
What this agent does
Stay current on what's changing in any industry — on demand or delivered to your inbox every week. The Trends Research agent scans dozens of real-time sources and distills the most significant developments, signals, technology shifts, and market movements into a structured, skimmable digest. Whether you're a marketing agency lead tracking trends across multiple client industries, an e-commerce founder watching for pricing shifts, or a consultant preparing for a client meeting, this agent replaces the hours you'd spend scanning newsletters, social media, and Google with a 90-second read. When you add your business details, the agent goes further — interpreting each trend through the lens of your company, product, and customers.
When to use this agent
- Before a strategy session or client meeting — get a quick snapshot of what's happening in a specific industry so you walk in informed.
- When monitoring a market you don't operate in daily — agencies, consultants, and investors tracking industries on behalf of clients or portfolio companies.
- As a weekly habit — set up a recurring digest and get trends delivered to your inbox every Monday (or whichever day you choose) without lifting a finger.
- When you need to spot opportunities or threats early — regulatory changes, competitor moves, technology shifts, and buyer behavior changes surfaced before they become obvious.

How It Works
On-Demand Mode:
- You enter an industry or topic (and optionally a geographic focus).
- The agent searches real-time sources — news, industry publications, market data, and more — to identify the most significant recent developments.
- It structures the findings into a consistent 6-section format (described below).
- If you've provided your business details, the agent adds a personalized section interpreting the trends through the lens of your company.
- Your trends snapshot appears in the app, ready to scan in about 90 seconds.
Recurring Delivery Mode:
- You configure your preferences once through the setup wizard — industry, themes, keywords, companies, schedule.
- Every week on your chosen day and time, the agent automatically runs a fresh trends analysis using your saved configuration.
- A condensed email digest lands in your inbox with the top trends and industry signals — designed to be skimmable in 90 seconds.
- The email includes a Read Full Analysis link that takes you to the complete in-app report with all 6 sections and next steps.
- Each weekly delivery counts as 1 run against your free tier allowance (3 runs/week). Paid users get unlimited, uninterrupted delivery.
Output
Both on-demand and recurring modes produce the same structured analysis. The email digest includes a condensed version; the in-app output includes the full report.
Section 1: Top Trends This Period
The 3–5 most significant developments in the industry. Each trend includes:
- Headline — what happened, in one line.
- Why it matters — one sentence on the business impact.
- Signal strength — whether the trend is emerging or well-established.
- Source — a link to the primary source.
Section 2: Industry Signals
A compact feed of notable events — funding rounds, mergers and acquisitions, product launches, partnerships, and executive moves. Each signal is a one-liner with a date and source link. Think of it as a news ticker for your industry — scan it in 30 seconds and click into anything that catches your eye.
Section 3: Regulatory & Policy Watch
Government actions, compliance changes, and policy proposals affecting the industry. Each item covers: what changed, who it affects, and what to do about it. This section only appears for industries where regulatory developments are relevant — it won't show up with empty content.
Section 4: Technology & Innovation
New tools, platforms, methodologies, or technical shifts gaining traction. Each item explains what it is, who's adopting it, and whether it's real momentum or just hype. Focused on developments that could change how businesses in the industry operate.
Section 5: Market & Consumer Shifts
Buyer behavior changes, pricing trends, demand shifts, and emerging customer segments. Grounded in observable data and signals rather than speculation. Helps you understand what's changing on the demand side of the market.
Section 6: What This Means for You
A personalized section that ties the top trends back to your specific business, product, customers, and competitive position. Examples:
- "Trend X affects your ICP because…"
- "Your competitor is already responding to Trend Y by…"
- "This shift creates an opportunity for your product because…"
This section only appears when you've provided business details (at minimum, your company website or product description). It's the layer that transforms a generic trends digest into a personalized business intelligence brief.

What happens if you run out of free runs? If you have a recurring digest set up and you've already used your 3 free runs for the week, your digest delivery will be skipped. You'll see a message: "Your weekly digest was skipped because you've used your free runs. Upgrade to guarantee uninterrupted delivery." Upgrading ensures your digest is never missed.
Tips & Best Practices
- Be specific with your industry or topic. "AI in healthcare" will produce more focused, useful trends than just "technology." The more specific you are, the more relevant the output.
- Fill in your business details for the biggest payoff. The first 5 sections are useful on their own, but the personalized "What This Means for You" section is where the agent becomes a strategic advisor. Take 2 minutes to add your company website, product description, and ideal customer.
- Use the wizard's suggestion buttons. When setting up recurring delivery, click Suggest Topics, Suggest Keywords, and Suggest Companies to get AI-generated suggestions tailored to your industry. You can edit or remove any suggestion — they're a starting point, not a commitment.
- Set your recurring digest for the start of your week. Most users choose Monday morning delivery so they start the week informed. Pick whatever day works for your planning rhythm.
- Use Next Steps cards to go deeper. When a trend mentions a specific company or competitor, click through to Company Research or Competitive Brief to get the full picture. The agents work together — trends give you the "what's changing," and the other agents help you figure out "what to do about it."
FAQ
What's the difference between Trends Research and a newsletter?
Newsletters are one-size-fits-all — the same content goes to every subscriber. Trends Research is configured to your specific industry, themes, and keywords. When you add your business details, the output is personalized to your company, product, and customers. It's closer to having a research analyst on your team than subscribing to a newsletter.
Can I track trends for an industry that's different from my own?
Yes. This is a common use case for agencies, consultants, and investors. The "industry or topic" field is what you want to research — it's separate from "your industry" in your profile. For example, a marketing agency can research trends in healthcare while their own industry is listed as marketing.
How does the recurring digest count against my free runs?
Each weekly digest delivery counts as 1 run from your 3 free runs per week. If you have a recurring digest and also run 3 on-demand queries in the same week, you'll hit your limit. Subscribers ($10/month) get unlimited runs and guaranteed weekly delivery.
What happens on a slow news week?
The agent always delivers your digest on schedule. If there are no major new developments, the digest will frame it as a quiet week and include a brief recap of ongoing trends rather than sending nothing. Consistency is part of the value — you'll always know the state of your industry.
Can I pause or cancel my recurring digest?
Yes. Go to your agent settings and toggle Pause weekly digest to temporarily stop delivery. You can resume at any time. Your configuration (industry, themes, keywords, schedule) is saved so you don't have to set it up again.
